The plane is a dolphin model from the 26cc series. Motor is a DLE 30 which survived the unfortunate loss of my Extra 300 after a flame-out at takeoff.
The test flight was good with only minor trimming required. The DLE 30 motor pulls this plane around at just above idle due to it's incredibly light weight. Prop is an 18 by 8 wooden.
Once the set-up is finished It should give should give a lively performance.
Supplied hardware with the kit was quite good quality and was used, this did not used to be the case with ARF's in years gone by.
Some tuning of the motor needs to be done to hold a steady low idle, also vibration is a little excessive for my liking and I plan to experiment with heavier composite propellers to replace the wooden item used on the test flight. This will hopefully increase the flywheel effect and absorb some of the shakes, time will tell.

Well the annual 'Pelican squadron' houseboat trip has again come and gone. Although the weather gods didn't smile as hard as they have in the past, we all still had an enjoyable weekend. The weather was flyable for most of the weekend, but most found a window of opportunity when the wind dropped for an hour or so here and there. The most adverse weather conditions seemed to coincide well with the morning and afternoon tea breaks, so not all was lost when a little rain fell! Newcomers Paul Kumela and John trengove both seemed to enjoy the trip, and whispers were heard about what they would do next year!

G’day, my name is Dennis Miller and I have been a member for many years. I fly predominantly Electric Powered aircraft, both outdoors and indoors (at the Hub & Seaford Recreation Centre’s). OK, Why did I go Electric……

NMAS Recently hosted the 2006 Helicopter Nationals. It was held over three days, the friday being practice, and the saturday and sunday for competition.
The event looked to promote our club to both SA, and interstate clubs. Unfortunately the event was not well attended by the pilots, resulting in only the novice category to run, with no pilots entering the advanced or expert classes. With that said, the event was very well attended by Noarlunga members, who flew, officiated and spectated the weekend. At this stage I would like to personally thank all NMAS members who attended as it made for a much better atmosphere. Most of the visiting pilots from other clubs were extremely happy with the hospitality they received from us and a few are now looking at joining our fine club. Three pilots from NMAS competed, being David Holland, Anatoly Patrick, and Brett Oakley. All three did our club proud in showing just how good pilots from a fixed wing dominant club can be. I don't think any of the three had competed before, but surely gave it thier all,and it showed with all competing NMAS pilots ranking very well. At the end of the weekend, the final results showed that a novice pilot can hover just as well if not better, with much precision, than the 'expert' 3d flyers! 3rd place went to Craig Jones from SARCH, who is also a former noarlunga member. 2nd place went to Bill Kent also from SARCH, and who is SA's only helicopter instructor. And finally 1st place went to noarlunga's very own Brett Oakley, who only received his bronze wings during practice on th friday afternoon. Again personally and on behalf of the whole club, thankyou to all the volunteers over the two days, without you we would not have had an event. And also thankyou to all participating pilots both from NMAS, as well as from visiting clubs, and finally congratulations to the winning pilots, you showed us all that helicopter flying can be done with real precision.
