General FAQ
- How can I learn to fly?
If you are interested in learning to fly come to our field and have a talk with some of our instructors or members about club and the flight instruction we provide to members.
- Is there a joining fee for NMAS ?
no
- What are the club membership fees ?
The club year is from July to June, and fees for new members are discounted in the second half of the club year.

- Prior to Joining - Test Flight
Can I have a trail flight before I join the Club to see if I will succeed?
Yes in accordance with our Insurance Policies prospective members can have four visits prior to joining the Club as long as the Visitors book is signed.
The purpose of these trial days for you and the club to ascertain if model aircraft flying is for you. At the conclusion of the four visits you will be required to decide if you wish to join or not.
- Is There an Insurance Excess
An insurance excess of $500 applies to any one claim for Personal Injury or damage. This excess is set by the MAAA Council on a yearly basis. The excess is applied to ensure all members fly responsibly.
- Am I covered by Insurance
When I Join a Noarlunga Model Aero Sports (NMAS) am I covered by Insurance?
Yes all members of NMAS are affiliate members of the State Association, Model Aerosports S.A. (MASA) and the Federal Association, Model Aeronautical Association Australia (MAAA) and as such are covered by a comprehensive insurance package. This package includes a $20,000,000.00 third party accident and bodily injury policy, personal accident insurance and corporate insurance. This insurance covers you were ever you fly your model aircraft, as long as you comply with CASA regulations and have the permission of the land owner.
